About Women In Law

The mission of Women In Law is to develop, nurture, and challenge students to pursue their dreams, regardless of the historical and systemic gender inequality they may face. We will develop appropriate conversations and events that will provide students with realistic and helpful professional advice. We strive to build positive interactions between mentors, mentees, peers, and advisors.

Our vision is to educate the community on legal issues through society including, but not limited to, employment, health, education, violence, access to resources and more. We will push to be an inclusive organization aiming to promote an environment of academic, professional, and legal equality. It is essential to prepare undergraduates who may be interested in a legal career and by providing a strong community of women to support each other, we can be hopeful they each achieve their dreams.

“I created WIL when I first transferred to BU, because I wanted a community of like-minded women who shared the same passion and eagerness to learn about law. Starting college, I realized there were little to no opportunities for undergraduate students to learn about the law and get legal experience prior to attending law school, so I saw this as an opening to create an environment in which they have the opportunity to do so. WIL offers a variety of resources from workshops to panels to social events, which really help to foster a sense of community and also provide valuable insights into what a career in law might look like.”
